NOEL WATSONNoel was the resident DJ alongside his brother Maurice at Delirium Club at the now sadly lost Astoria on London's Charing Cross Rd. He rubbed shoulders with the Hip-Hop pioneers of the time – Run DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys – and was right at the heart of the underground warehouse party culture of the 80s. The BBC Documentary "Can You Feel It" credited Noel and Maurice as true pioneers of house and acid music in the UK. Noel has graced the wheels of steel at clubs all over the world and played many festivals in the UK. He debuted for us in the Diner in 2017 and we're pleased to have him back with us once again. ACID JOE (JO GIRL)Here's what Shortwave Films had to say about Acid Joe, the DJ known around the Diner for many years as Jo Girl:
"Allegiances with the Ex Gratia founders, since the days of Subterfuge Cabaret. Audio-eclectia par excellence, with a Grand Sorceresses ear for all that kicks back in the world of drum and bass and eclectic sexy breaks. |
ROXANNE ROLL 'Play at least one track that really scars you.' That's been Roxanne Roll's DJ mantra since she started DJing 18 years ago. Dropping her remix of Joni Mitchell's We Are Stardust in Fabric, London, is a prime example. As the founder of Fleetmac Wood, Kaftan Discotheque, Sympathy for the Disco and Cowbella, the thrill of bringing the unexpected to the dance floor has always been her motivation. Fusing vocals, guitars, synth-heavy electro, funk and house into what she calls Power Disco, Roxanne specialises in giving familiar rock and pop classics a revamped twirl under the mirror ball.

MR TOOLEYThis year, 2024, the Diner Family are celebrating the life of Mr Tooley, resident DJ with us since 2014. His incredible vinyl-only sets selected from his huge collection have wooed our dancefloor for years. Sadly he passed over to the Great Gig in the Sky shortly after Glastonbury last year, 2023, a spirited battle against cancer finally taking him from us at the end of July. This year we'll be playing beneath a photo of him in the Dj booth, and his wonderful wife and fellow music lover Gill will be spreading some of his ashes on the ground under the Diner DJ Booth where he made himself genuinely irreplaceable.
Fly High Tooley, and thanks for the music. Here's some footage of the man himself |
